What it does
Fire The LP8 is a resonant low-pass filter from Acustica Audio's simple Fire range, based on "a legendary voltage-controlled filter circuit from the late 1970s" used in classic 1980s analog synths. It mixes convolution and algorithmic techniques to get that filter's analog character into a quick, mix-ready plugin.
- Cutoff and Resonance: the core low-pass controls, for sweeps, tone darkening and resonant peaks.
- Two slopes: switch between 12 dB and 24 dB per octave, from a gentle roll-off to a steep synth-style cut.
- Drive: pushes the filter for more grit and saturation.
- Vintage preamp: an input stage that adds analog colour before the filter.
- Aliveness: imitates the "imperfect" behaviour of real analog hardware, so the sound is less static.
- Oversampling: up to 64x, with what the developer calls perfect phase response, for cleaner resonance at high settings.
The developer describes it as extremely light on CPU, with low latency. It was released in September 2024 (Rekkerd). The product page gives no version number.

When to use it
Fire The LP8 is the pick when you want one warm, 80s-style synth low-pass with analog colour and very few decisions to make. Compared with FilterFreak and Volcano 3, it has no LFOs, envelopes or sequencing and only one filter type, so any movement has to come from DAW automation. In return its preamp, Drive and Aliveness controls give it more vintage character out of the box. Next to Arturia's Filter M12 and Filter MS-20, it is simpler and closer to a mixing tool than a creative modulation effect.
- Best for: warm, resonant low-pass sweeps on synths, drums and loops, and taming bright sources with some analog colour.
- Genres: electronic, synthwave, hip-hop and lo-fi.
- Look elsewhere if: you need built-in modulation, high-pass or band-pass modes, or several filters at once; Volcano 3 or FilterFreak are more complete.
