What it does
Fire The Delay is part of Acustica Audio's Fire series: a single plugin holding 40 delay and tape emulations, sampled from both old-school and modern gear. The idea is speed: the developer describes a "streamlined, intuitive interface" built for simplicity and efficiency.
- 40 emulations: a mix of vintage and modern delay units and tape echoes, each meant to recreate the sound and behaviour of the original gear.
- Model browser: pick an emulation from a drop-down menu, or step through them with the arrow keys to audition them quickly.
- Editable parameters: each model's settings can be adjusted from the one-page interface, with responsive buttons rather than deep menus.
- Zero latency: usable while tracking and monitoring, unlike many Acustica plugins.
- Low CPU: built to stay light in large sessions; lighter than most Acustica plugins.
- Hyper 3 Technology: the Acustica sampling engine the developer credits for the sound quality.

When to use it
Fire The Delay is narrower than EchoBoy and Galaxy Tape Echo, detailed vintage delays with full control over tape wear, rhythm and character, Timeless 3, a modulation-heavy creative delay, and ValhallaDelay, which covers many delay types cheaply with a stronger diffusion side. It is a collection of sampled delay and tape flavours behind a simple browser, aimed at finding a usable vintage echo fast rather than building one from scratch. Its zero latency and low CPU make it easy to leave on many tracks.
- Best for: quick tape and analog-style echoes on vocals, guitars and synths, and auditioning many delay colours in a few seconds.
- Genres: any; suits pop, rock and electronic music where a vintage echo colour helps.
- Look elsewhere if: you want deep modulation, multi-tap rhythms or groove controls; Timeless 3 or EchoBoy do more.
