What it does

Diamond Transient is a two-plugin dynamics suite from Acustica Audio, made with three-time GRAMMY-nominated producer and mix/master engineer Luca Pretolesi of Studio DMI. The idea is quick punch and definition in a few clicks, without losing analog character; the developer says it will "reshape your tracks in seconds".

Diamond LP-3X: a 3-band dynamic range enhancer inspired by a vintage late-1980s hardware unit, for shaping punch and dynamics in separate frequency bands.
Diamond DYN-F: a transient dynamic filter that follows the signal's amplitude to emphasise or de-emphasise low frequencies between 30 and 500 Hz.
Standard and fine-tune modes: both plugins open with a reduced set of controls for fast results; fine-tune mode unlocks the rest, with 19 controls in total on DYN-F.
Analog character: built on Acustica's sampling technology, so the processing keeps the tone of the hardware it was modelled on.

When to use it

Diamond Transient splits the job in two: a 3-band enhancer for punch in one range without touching the others, and a low-end dynamic filter for kick and bass weight. That sets it apart from SPL Transient Designer Plus and Waves Smack Attack, which are full-band transient shapers with attack and sustain controls, from Kilohearts Transient Shaper, a cheap, light take on the same idea, and from oeksound spiff, which finds resonant transients across the spectrum. It is the better pick when the low end is where the punch problem lives, or when you want an analog-coloured dynamic tool rather than a clean one.

Best for: multiband punch on drums and percussion, and dynamic low-end control on kicks, bass and full mixes.

Look elsewhere if: you want a simple, low-cost attack/sustain shaper (Kilohearts Transient Shaper) or transparent full-band shaping (SPL Transient Designer Plus).
