What it does
This is the Dangerous Music BAX EQ plugin made with Acustica, described as "the only Dangerous Music certified BAX EQ plugin". The developer calls it "a total ground-up redesign" by the people behind the original hardware, with Dangerous Music, Acustica and mastering engineer Luca Pretolesi involved, and Gearnews reports that original designer Chris Muth signed off on the sound.
- Shelves: a broad low shelf for kick and bass weight and a smooth high shelf for air on vocals, pads and full mixes.
- Cut filters: phase-coherent low cut for infrasonic rumble and high cut for ultrasonic noise.
- Three views: Classic, Expanded and Dual Mono.
- Stereo modes: mid-side processing and dual-mono operation with independent left and right controls.
- Output control: a final gain stage for level matching after EQ.
It works at 44.1 to 96 kHz. Gearnews reports a July 30, 2026 release and a 30-day fully functional trial.

When to use it
The BAX EQ is for broad, gentle tone shaping on masters and stems: wide shelves and clean cut filters rather than many bands. Compared with Pro-Q 4, it has no narrow bands or dynamic EQ, but it is quicker for big, smooth tilts. The Pultec Passive EQ Collection and Manley Massive Passive add more tube character, while the BAX aims to stay clean and open. Unlike Acustica's earlier, uncertified Coral Bax, this version carries Dangerous Music's own certification.
- Best for: wide, gentle low and high shelves on masters, the mix bus and stems, and light brightening of vocals.
- Genres: any.
- Look elsewhere if: you need narrow bands, notches or dynamic EQ; Pro-Q 4 covers that.
