What it does

Cadet is a creative hybrid reverb in which, as the developer puts it, "sound moves within it, refracting, folding, and breathing". It is aimed at sound designers, producers and composers who build atmospheres rather than rooms.

It runs at 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz. Sound On Sound noted a demo is available.

When to use it

Cadet is for shimmering, harmonic reverb tails with a natural-sounding base. Compared with Valhalla Supermassive and Eventide Blackhole, it builds pitch shifting into the feedback loop and adds convolution early reflections, but it cannot reach their huge, near-endless decays. That makes it more usable as an everyday reverb on vocals and acoustic sources than either. Next to VintageVerb or Pro-R 2, it is less suited to precise rooms and plates, and more to movement and texture.

What producers say

Sound On Sound found it a versatile, natural-sounding studio reverb with smooth shimmer, held back mainly by its maximum reverb time.
