Not rated yet
A plugin that splits a finished mix into vocals, piano, bass, drums and other stems in real time, inside the DAW.
Per-stem level and sensitivity controls let you rebalance a track on the fly, and multi-output hosts can route each stem to its own channel.
Best for: Mix Bus, Vocals, Drums, Bass, Sound Design. Genres: all genres.
Keywords: drums, vocals, bass, full mix, piano, bus processing, low latency, metering, mix bus, mixing, perpetual licence, post-production, resizable UI, sound design, utility.
What it does
Remix is Acon Digital's stem separator, described as "the world's first real-time stem separation plug-in." It works as an insert on a mixed track, so you can rebalance or isolate parts without an offline render.
- Five stems: Vocals, Piano, Bass, Drums and Other, each with its own level and output meter.
- Sensitivity per stem: adjusts the detection threshold for each stem to trade bleed against artifacts.
- Multi-output routing: in supported hosts, Mix, Vocals, Piano, Bass, Drums and Other can go to separate outputs for printing stems.
- Real-time and automatable: low-latency processing and fully automatable parameters, useful for ducking music under dialogue.
- Workflow: preset manager with factory presets and a resizable interface.
Version 1.x works at up to 96 kHz. It is sold as a perpetual license, or in the Remix Bundle with Remix:Drums.

When to use it
Remix is the pick when you want separation to happen live on a DAW track, for rebalancing music under dialogue, pulling a vocal for a remix, or printing stems without leaving the session. Unlike iZotope RX 12 and Steinberg SpectraLayers Pro 13, which separate stems offline in an editor with more repair tools, it works in real time, and it separates more than the drums that Zynaptiq UNMIX::DRUMS pulls out of a mix.
- Best for: rebalancing finished music in post-production, quick acapellas and instrumentals, and sampling parts from full mixes.
- Genres: all; it works on any mixed music.
- Look elsewhere if: you need guitars or other instruments as their own stem, or offline editing of the separated audio; RX or SpectraLayers suit that better.
- Standout: separation runs in real time as an insert, with per-stem sensitivity.
What producers say
Users and reviewers find the separation useful and often impressive, with some artifacts and weaker handling of guitars.
- KVR users (2023): one found results "mostly astonishing" on vocals, drums and bass; another said "Good enough to be useful to me. Certainly not perfect."
- Music Marketing (2023): called it the best current option for DAW-based stem separation, with easy stem printing.
- Gripe: reviewers noted latency and artifacts, only five fixed stem types, and guitars (including acoustic guitar) ending up in the wrong stem.
