Not rated yet
An intelligent matching EQ for dialogue that learns a reference's spectral signature and shapes the input to match, for ADR, voice replacement and consistent tone across takes.
Its Dynamic Mode updates the EQ curve more than 50 times per second, so it can follow changing mics, rooms and speakers without manual setup.
Best for: Vocals. Genres: all genres.
Keywords: dialogue, match EQ, post-production, podcast, dynamic, spectral, AI/machine learning, CPU-light, vocals.
What it does
SpectralBalance is "an intelligent matching EQ plugin for dialogue recordings." It analyzes a reference and automatically shapes the EQ of the input to match; the current release is SpectralBalance2.
- Reference matching: learn the spectral signature of any reference audio and match raw dialogue to it with one click.
- Dynamic Mode: adapts the EQ curve in real time, over 50 times per second, for live recordings and multiple speakers.
- Lightweight: optimized neural network models keep CPU use low enough to run many instances.
- Use cases: ADR matching, voice replacement, podcasts, roundtables and tonal consistency across locations.
It works at 44.1 to 192 kHz in mono and stereo, with a 7-day trial.

When to use it
SpectralBalance is trained specifically on speech. Where sonible smart:EQ 4 and FabFilter Pro-Q 4 can match or suggest EQ for any source, and Newfangled EQuivocate is a manual match EQ, SpectralBalance is the better fit when you must match many dialogue takes quickly. It pairs with Chameleon for full ADR matching.
- Best for: ADR and voice replacement, podcasts with several mics, and long-form dialogue that must sound consistent.
- Genres: post-production and spoken word.
- Look elsewhere if: you need an EQ for music sources; general matching EQs are more flexible.
- Standout: Dynamic Mode, which keeps correcting as the voice or mic position changes.
What producers say
Reviewers describe it as a large time saver for dialogue work.
- Production Expert (2023) Paul Maunder said "it does an excellent job on the default setting" and called it by far a more efficient way to a good result on long, multi-mic content.
- Production Expert (2023) he added it is "a big time saver" for podcasts, roundtables and conference recordings.
